How to Set Up Insights Data Sources (GA4, Google Ads, GSC, and Meta)

ProfilePilot Team | Aug 18, 2026 | 8 min read

A practical step-by-step guide to connect all Insights data sources, verify access, and avoid the common setup mistakes that block reporting.

Step 1: Confirm prerequisites before connecting

Before connecting anything, confirm:

  • You are signed into the correct organisation in ProfilePilot
  • You have Admin-level access in the ad/analytics properties you want to connect
  • The website already has GA4 tracking installed

This prevents the most common issue: connectors appear successful but ingest returns empty data because the wrong account or property was linked.

Step 2: Connect GA4, Google Ads, and Search Console

Open Dashboard → Settings → Integrations → Insights and connect Google.

Then verify each source:

  1. GA4 property appears and can sync
  2. Google Ads customer appears and can sync
  3. Search Console property appears and can sync

If one source is missing, reconnect Google and grant all scopes again (partial scope grants are a common cause of missing sources).

Step 3: Connect Meta correctly for paid media

Connect Meta in Integrations and ensure the login grants ads_read.

After connection:

  • Confirm a Meta ad account is visible
  • Run Sync Meta Ads from Insights
  • Wait for ingest logs to complete

If campaigns show 0 rows, check whether the selected period actually has spend and that the ad account status is active.

Step 4: Validate data in Overview and Paid Media

Go to Insights Overview and Insights Paid Media and confirm:

  • Spend and clicks are populated
  • Sessions and conversions are populated
  • Date range includes active campaign dates

Use a fixed historical range first (for example last full month) before testing live-day ranges to avoid false negatives from partial-day ingest windows.
